Trestleboard ASHLER LODGE May 2014
Greetings from the East,
Well, our April Stated was absolutely packed with business. It had been a while since we had a posting lecture so it was a nice treat to have brother Jeff Glaze (and his coach, Brother Nate Wahl) prove up on the Fellowcraft and allow us to set a tentative date of May 22nd for his third degree. Please do let us know if you would like a part, it’s always great to have a full house.
After Brother Jeff’s posting lecture, we were afforded a beautiful presentation of the “Five Points” that the girls will perform later this year at their Grand Session. They could use some financial help to get there so if your cable tow (i.e. wallet) has any length left in it please do consider this worthy cause.
After the Jobies presentation, Brother Vinnie DiGiulio spoke to us about his recently published book “Freemasonry and the Catholic Church” and the reason behind the long standing animosity between Freemasons and the church.
Following these presentations, we were able to welcome our newest Brother, Doron Cedrechi. Unfortunately, Brother Ray Gries was unable to make it but we hope to see him in May.
We had an inspiring discussion regarding Oso relief and the brothers voted on a $500+ donation to the victims of the slide. Again showing the great heart that our Lodge and our fraternity possess.
WB Chris Haynes made a presentation to the Lodge on behalf of the Temple Board and the need for additional monies to renovate our vacant tenant space downstairs. The bottom line is that we have the potential of having an outstanding tenant for many years and these initial costs will allow us to accommodate their needs and improve our building immensely. These costs will go a long way towards improving the Lodges financial position, as well. The Lodge voted overwhelmingly to approve the expenditures.
This coming May 10th, the Lodge in Roche Harbor will hold its annual open air Fellowcraft degree and I, for one, would like to attend and I would like as many brothers as possible to attend this event. I realize this is the day before Mother’s Day but we should be back in plenty of time. More to come on Facebook.
Youth Appreciation has been scheduled for May 31st at Shoreline Lodge so mark your calendars for that one. It will not be a Stated or Special communication so you do not need a suit, just your smile.
All in all, a great meeting, and the May meeting should be more of the same with WB Ron Swasey and his Memorial Day presentation.
Fraternally,
WB Roger Kaltenbach
Worshipful Master

Greetings from the West,
I would like to start out by paying wages. We had a great visit from our Bethel 77 Jobies that served us dinner and joined us in the meeting by putting on a presentation. For those who did not know three of our Jobies are on the 5 person state ritual team. (Wow 3 out of 5) and they presented all five parts of their presentation and did an AWESOME job. I want to say I was very impressed with their dedication to their work. Thank you so much girls all, you make us all very proud! I may be making a trip to Spokane to see them compete at their Supreme Session, any one with me? Wages go to WB Gary McPherson for a great meal of Brazilian food. It was very good and well received. I also want to pay wages to Brother Jeff Sorenson for stepping up to the seat of Senior Deacon as Brother Brian had to step out of the line at this time. Another Thank you to Brother Chris Elsworth for stepping up to fill our Junior Deacon, what a great Lodge of men we have to keep alive our history of stepping in to help.
We have so many great things coming up as Masons to attend so I look forward to seeing you all at them weather it’s with our Lodge or another. Speaking of which, Shoreline Lodge is putting on their annual crab feed on June 7. Cost is $35.00 and always sells out fast so if you want to go and have not bought your tickets contact them or I also will be putting some on will call. We already have 12 people from our Lodge going that I know of, how many more of you want to go? This is always a great highlight of the year and it helps them with fundraising.
Remember we usually place events and items on facebook so keep an eye out for updates. Look forward to seeing you all at the great events we have going, and remember the youth love to see you visit.

Greetings from the South,
I too would like to pay wages as well as most of them have already been paid. I want to thank the WB Gary MacPherson aka The Worshipful Steward for a great meal of feijoada. I can eat that all day long and he truly outdid himself with that meal. And thanks go out to Br. Bob Guild for the cleanup of that meal!
I too would also like to thank Br. Jeff Sorenson for stepping up to Senior Deacon and Br. Chris Elsworth for taking the Junior Deacon place in the Lodge. The Lodge is in great hands and I am so proud that we have brother that can step in and not miss a beat.
We are having another Ashler Lodge Street Cleanup on May 17th. Breakfast at Steve’s at 8am. Picking up Gatorade bottles and cigarette butts at 9am. This is a great way to get some easy exercise and walk along with a fellow brother and get to know that brother a bit better.
I want to give a warm congratulations to Br. Jeff Glaze on his second degree posting lecture. Br. Glaze and I were initiated on the same evening, so it is a proud moment for me to see him raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Br. Glaze’s Third Degree is tentatively scheduled for May 22 at 7pm. I still need to see if this date works well for Br. Jeff. So please step up and offer me hand as it is great thing to have brothers on the sidelines for this occasion

Jobie Update from Melody Dorning
Bethel 77 has been very busy the last couple of months. We had our Applebee's pancake breakfast on April 19th which was a huge success! They did just as well with their cookie dough sales. Thank you all for your help and support.
The girls had their last meeting of the term on April 22. It was Madeline's last meeting as Honored Queen so there were a few tears.
We are having our installation on May 10th at 7pm. We would love to see as many of you there that can make it.
We hope you enjoyed the daughters who performed the messenger parts of our initiation ceremony. All of our daughters do outstanding ritual work and we love to perform it for others.
Everyone is gearing up for our Grand Session in Wenatchee in June so we will be quite busy with that. Our very own Chris Elsworth will be installed as a Grand Officer at that time. He will also be sporting a new hair do as well.
After Grand Session several of the girls are planning on going to Supreme Session in August which will be in Spokane.
