Trestleboard           ASHLER LODGE          December 2013

Greetings from the East,

Brethren, I want to thank you all for a wonderful year.  Being Master of Ashler Lodge was truly an honor.  This has been one of the best years in my life, and I owe it all to my Brothers.

For those who missed the last meeting let me fill you in.  We had a great meal provided by the Job’s Daughters. I always look forward to the best Turkey dinner I have all season.  They did not disappoint.  The girls are wonderful to have at dinner.  It really makes the meal time a happy time.  Thank you Job’s Daughters.

Dinner was followed by a quick opening of Lodge and then a Veteran’s presentation, followed by an empty table presentation giving by WB Ron Swasey.  This presentation has become a tradition at Ashler Lodge.  If you missed it this year make sure you come to Lodge next November.

WB Swasey’s presentation was followed by May Powell doing a portion of the Rainbow initiation where the candidate is given the patriotism bow. This portion of their ceremony always chokes me up.  If you have never attended a Rainbow initiation I urge you to go.

If this were not enough to make this a wonderful night, we were also presented with an award from the city of Bothell for our work at Bothell Music in the park.  Steve Dahl presented us with the award and commented on how much he relied on the Masons for their support.  Not just for our work with concessions, but it also made him feel more secure knowing that if something every happened, the Masons were there to have his back.

Closing of Lodge was not my best work.  I apologize to the Brethren.  I was overwhelmed with the night, and with having my year come to an end.

We do have lots to look forward to next year.  Brother Roger Kaltenbach has been working hard preparing for his year.  His ritual work is excellent, he has a lot of good ideas for the year, and with a little begging he might continue with the Spam cook-off in August.

The installation of officers will be December 7th at 2PM.  This year all of the installing officers will be Past Masters of Ashler Lodge.  This should be an excellent ceremony and a really fun day.  Please come out to support your officers

Fraternally,

Greetings from the West,

It is hard to follow WB Gary’s words from above but I will echo that both the meal from the Jobies was excellent as was may Powell’s presentation of the patriotism bow.

I would also like to welcome WB Fred Wagner and Bro. Eduardo Da Silva to Ashler Lodge as honorary members.

WB Ron always performs an excellent ceremony and, with that, the first wages that must be paid are to all of our veteran brothers and, of course, all of the veterans from other walks of life.

The next set of wages must be paid to the lodge for our award from the City of Bothell and especially to Bro. Kevin for his outstanding work at Music in the Park.

Of course, I would be remiss if I did not thank Brother Gary for his leadership this year with the lodge and for me personally.  I know he will continue to support and guide me (as do all the previous Master’s and brothers) as he has since I was initiated.  Thank you very much for all you have done and continue to do.

I would also like to pay wages to all of the Worshipful Brothers and Brothers who have agreed to be part of my line for the coming year.

Lastly, I, too, want to reiterate my thanks for you all placing your faith in me to continue the excellent leadership exhibited by all of our past masters.  They are the reason that we, as a lodge, enjoy the stability we have today.  We do not discuss this enough but, Ashler Lodge is in excellent position from a membership and financial responsibility position and I intend to do everything in my power to continue this outstanding stewardship.

For the last time from the West!

Fraternally,

Greetings from the South,

Well this is the last time I will be greeting you from the south as my great Brothers have put their trust in me so I can continue my Masonic journey upward. I want to thank you all for your trust and confidence in me as I move to the West. I hope to keep up the same level of work and then some as I know with a new position offers more responsibility. I am so looking forward to assisting our new Worshipful Master, Roger during his year. It has been an honor being your Junior Warden. I hope to be able to see a bunch of you at the installation as for some it has been awhile. Please come on out and join your brothers for a great time. If there are any brothers out there that may need a ride to attend the installation or any other event give us a call and a brother will be there.

Well it looks like we are going to start this next year in true Ashler form as we have a third degree coming up and two e petitions have been read at our last meeting so I sense we may be doing some first degrees also. Should be a great time as always. I don’t know about you but I have been trying to cram my brain with all the new standard work for the next year, and just when I think I have it I find something more, good thing we have such great Brothers that have come before us to lean on and help.

Hope to see you all soon, especially our Brothers that we have not seen in a while.

Fraternally,

Youth Groups Update.

I just want to take a second to thank the Youth groups that meet at Ashler Lodge.  Your help has made this a wonderful year.  Your ritual work is the standard to which I held the Lodge, it is always perfect and with meaning. The energy you bring to your meetings is beyond compare.    To my Brothers, the Jobie, Raibow and DeMolay meetings are listed below.  I encourage all of you to go.  You will be glad you did.
